The Ultimate Reese's and Chocolate Strawberry Dream Cake
This recipe combines the classic flavors of chocolate and strawberries with the irresistible taste of Reese's for a decadent and delightful cake.
Ingredients:
Chocolate Cake Layers:
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup boiling water
Strawberry Filling:
2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Chocolate Ganache:
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup heavy cream
Garnish (Optional):
Fresh strawberries, sliced
Chocolate shavings
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease three round cake pans. Line the bottoms with parchment paper for easy removal.
Prepare the Chocolate Cake Layers: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together sugar, eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract until light and fluffy.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Slowly stir in the boiling water until fully incorporated.
Divide the batter evenly among the three prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cakes cool completely on a wire rack before frosting.
Make the Strawberry Filling: In a saucepan, combine sliced strawberries, sugar, water, and cornstarch. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and becomes jam-like. Set aside to cool completely.
Prepare the Chocolate Ganache: Heat heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until simmering. Remove from heat and pour over chocolate chips. Let sit for 5 minutes, then whisk until smooth and glossy.
Assemble the Cake: Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a cake plate or stand. Spread a generous amount of strawberry filling on top. Repeat with the remaining cake layers and filling. Frost the entire cake with the chocolate ganache.
For an extra touch of Reese's magic, chop up some Reese's cups and sprinkle them over the top of the cake. Alternatively, you can use chopped peanuts or peanut butter buttercream frosting between the cake layers.
Garnish with fresh strawberries and chocolate shavings (optional). Refrigerate the cake for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the ganache to set.
Enjoy this delicious combination of chocolate, strawberries, and Reese's in every bite!
